Description
A medium-sized, stout trapdoor spider found around Adelaide, South Australia typically by river beds and embankments. The lids are difficult to see and quite thin. Often adorned with debris to make it look more convincing. They are relatively common and often found with Yellow Trapdoor spiders (Blakistonia) which have much thicker, waterproof lids. These are very fragile trapdoors despite the robust build. We recommend a clay substrate with plenty of humus on the surface to help the lid camouflage.
