Description
Phlogius is an unofficial genus of tarantulas that is currently called ‘Selenocosmia’. This genus is known for it’s fast growth rate and awesome webbing.
CURRENT SIZE: These are large captive-bred juveniles that have been raised for about 2 years. They are currently about 20-25mm in body length and almost 50mm in leg span.
Tarantula slings should be fed pre-killed crickets (euthanised, to do this – put the cricket in the fridge for 5 minutes, and then into the freezer for 15-20 minutes, then they don’t feel a thing). Here at Bug frenzy we care about our bugs and as such we don’t recommend “partially crushing the crickets heads” (As recommended by some keepers) as this is very painful for the cricket and quite frankly, cruel. They can be fed live crickets if they are considerably smaller than the spider and the spider has constructed a burrow/web-retreat.
WARNING : Tarantulas have tarsal claws and scopula pads and can climb plastic and glass, be careful.
