Description
These incredible spiders mimic bird droppings to a near perfect degree, even placing patches of white silk around them on the leaf they sit on to seal the mimicry!
Celaenia excavata is a technically a species of orb-weaver (family Araneidae) that has abandoned building webs, instead they are ambush predators, sitting motionless until prey walks by. They are small, reaching 7mm in length.
