Size: Small. Queen ~10mm, workers ~5mm

Diet: Do not require feeding until workers arrive. Feed a mix of small protein and sugars.

Set-up: Test tube up until 15-20 workers. Then move to nest and out world. Mostly aboreal so can benefit from access to bark or wood.

This stunning little ant has striking stripes on its gastor. Its colouring can be variable, from dark black to paler brown. They have both minor and major workers and are closely related to Camponotus. Being placid they make a beautiful and rewarding colony.
