Description
These medium sized assassin bugs are found in eastern Australia, commonly in gardens. Assassin bugs (Reduviidae) are so called because they sit motionless until prey passes by, which they stab with their sharp proboscis and Inject liquefying enzymes into. They then drink the liquefied insides of the prey and leave only an empty husk.
Assassin bugs are timid but if handled can give a very painful stab with the proboscis.
These assassin bugs grow to 3cm in length. Sold as juveniles – eating crickets.
