Description
A small, bright green orb-weaver (Araneidae) species found throughout Australia. They are bright green with lighter specks and often a pretty red and yellow patch on the abdomen which is variable in size, shape and intensity to may be absent entirely.
They construct small orb webs on the foliage of green shrubs and bushes, their green colour helps blend in with the leaves while the red and yellow patch/s may help break up the outline of the spider.
Due to the small size of this species and the webs they construct they are easier to keep than other orb-weeavers and should build an orb web at night on foliage. Once the web is constructed, place or drop a cricket or fly onto the web and the spider will rush over to consume it.
