Desert tarantula (Selenocosmia ‘secret squirrel’)

(2 customer reviews)

Price range: $35.00 through $50.00

Description

Selenocosmia is a smaller tarantula species found across most of the arid interior.  They inhabit deep burrows with minimal webbing around it.

This ‘species’ is often sold as ‘secret squirrel’ however it is not a true species and according to a recent DNA study is the same as regular S. stirlingi.

While they are found in arid areas, they burrow to an area where it is moist so they need to be kept on moist coco peat.

WARNING : Tarantulas have tarsal claws and scopula pads and can climb plastic and glass, be careful.

Optional kit includes

  • mini clearview enclosure
  • Tarantula substrate
  • faux plants

Beautiful creature, eating well and burrowing happily!

It arrived on time and was happy and healthy, there was a slight mix up as it couldn’t be delivered to my house for some reason but when I picked it up from the Post Office it was surprisingly bigger than I thought. (It was about the size of a full-grown jumping spider) Definitely ordering from Bug Frenzy again.
