Description

These are large and extremely thin stick insects found on Eucalyptus trees in the central-northern deserts of Australia.

They have small glands on the thorax that contain a white peppermint smelling liquid, if significantly disturbed they might spray a small amount at you, if It gets in your eyes it will hurt a little bit so just wash them with water. We’ve never had this happen to us however.

Unfortunately due to our camera lens being adapted for targets below 70mm we cannot take a good profile of these stick insects, however they are green with some black markings. They grow up to 14cm or so.
