Description
Greenies are medium-sized, mainly translucent green spiders that are uncommon in Qld, NSW and SA.
The species epithet “abnormis” couldn’t be more apt, they are extremely unusual in behaviour. They are found in heath (low-growing, hot and fairly dry forest) habitat and are nocturnal, they hunt at night between bushes, hanging and suspended on each end by a single silken line stretched between two plants. At night, their eyes are red for night-vision and most peculiarly… they glow in the dark under UV light, just like scorpions!
They would love an enclosure where top hanging plants are provided by means of something like our “Plant Pod”. Flying prey is also preferred, but they will eat crickets too.
Sold as unsexed juvies, eating x-xsmall crickets or pinheads.
