Description
A native species of snake millipede (Julidae) these are particularly long millipedes found in rocky areas of South Australia. These millipedes have about 250 legs and must curl up into multiple layers due to their length, they may also form 8-shaped loops. Millipedes in South Australia are now quite rare and exist only in isolated populations due to the invasive Portuguese millipedes, and this species seems to only exist in very rocky areas, such as at the base of cliffs or on rocky outcrops.
Millipedes feed on decomposing organic matter such as leaf litter, rotting wood, vegetable matter and lichen.
