Description
This large species of grasshopper is found in SA’s northern Mallee where they sit on tree stumps, on leaf litter or on the bark of trees during the day. At night they move up onto the Mulga (Acacia aneura) or Eucalyptus trees to feed on the leaves. They are remarkably camouflaged but give their position away when they jump. Adults have long wings and can glide once they have jumped. They are easy to care for, peaceful and can live with stick insects.
