Description
This species of jumping spider is found under the bark of eucalyptus trees in southern Australia. They grow to 13mm in body length and build silken retreats underneath bark. They are very active and inquisitive, and hardy in captivity. Despite their intimidating size, these are a timid species and can be handled safely if respect is given, like handling all spiders. Females and males are basically identical with males being slightly shaggier and more grey in colouration.
Care Tips:
This jumper (if sub-adult/adult) should be fed X-small crickets – no bigger than the spider’s body size.
Enclosure should have bark hide available as this is their favourite hang-out place. We recommend the The Bug Box or Little Bug Box

Very active little jumper! Walked right into the enclosure! A little thing I was a little concerned about though, is that my little friend had lost 2 legs when he had arrived! I’m not sure if he lost them due to shipping or me but I don’t think it was me since I haven’t handled him yet. He’s lost the 2 back legs so I’m not sure if he can jump. I hope he grows them back! Other than the issues just stated, 5 stars!

I love this little guy – I have named him Eucalyptus (not sure if he’s a he or she!) A very inquisitive spider and always comes out of his web to say hello to me. It’s fascinating watching him catch crickets and he has a glorious big booty after he finishes his meal!

My little Peanut arrived fast and safe – he was very inquisitive and almost immediately started building his web in the top of the enclosure. He didn’t eat for a couple weeks probably due to the stress of moving and maybe old age but he seems to be doing fine now after gobbling up 4 crickets yesterday.
