Description

Maratus leo is a medium-large sized species of peacock spider found in SA, usually in coastal areas.

Males feature the same pattern as Maratus Leo, just with more colours and both species are often found together, it has been suggested that ‘Leo’ and ‘literatus’ are just colour forms of the same species.

Female Maratus literatus are light brown with some lighter chevron patterns on the abdomen.
