Description
These intricately patterned wolf spiders are found throughout Australias arid regions, mostly in WA, SA and NSW. These are amazing wolf spiders, they construct tall palisades/turrets of leaves, sticks and bark pieces around their burrows on flat sandy soils which they sit on top of to increase their field of view, perhaps accounting for their seemingly small eyes compared to other Lycosids.
Jars work well for homes with our “clay-based substrate”, we recommend adding some pieces of leaf litter, dry sphagnum moss, small bark flakes and the like to help them build the turret. Poke a starter burrow with a finger or back end of a marker. This species grows to 20ish mm in length.
