Description

The genus Chlaenius is a very widespread and large genus, containing over 1000 species across the world. This species can be found across the entirety of mainland Australia. This medium-sized predatory beetle is a black-bronze colour with a stunning metallic green pronotum and head. In addition they may show a faint green margin around the elytra. Like it’s relatives, these beetles can be somewhat uncoordinated when it comes to hunting and may spend several minutes trying to catch a cricket which is quite funny to watch.
