Description
These elongated, mostly predacious beetles are found throughout Australia in leaf litter, in and underneath rotting logs, under bark and in loose soil. They can be fed pre-killed (euthanised, put a cricket in a sealable container in the fridge for 20 minutes and then the freezer for another 20. The coldness of the fridge puts them to sleep and the freezer painlessly kills them) or live crickets (pinhead or x-small) and given a treat of fruit, such as grape or honeydew melon once a month.
Housing is simple, just coco peat substrate (slightly moist) to a depth of about 3-4cm and bark or leaf litter as a hide.
This species is about 13mm long.
