Description
These are large, heavily-built slugs native to coastal eastern Australia. They feed almost entirely on lichen and algae, scraped from the surface of rocks and trees. They need a moist, sealed habitat preferably with substrate and rotting leaf litter. Lichen can be taken off of trees or rocks and placed in the enclosure and algae wafers can be bought from large pet stores or aquarium stores. To use algae wafers, place a few pinches into a bottle cap or similar and spray with water. Please wash your hands after touching these animals as the thick pink slime may be unhygienic.
These slugs are highly variable and may be red, yellow, white, brown, pink or orange, yet they always have a red triangle surrounding the breathing spiracle on top of the animals body.
