Description
Teyl is a diverse and widespread genus of Wishbone spiders in the family Anamidae. Teyl often have legs that are not the same colour as the rest of the body and spotted abdomens with little hair. This species is found in moist, lowland gullies in SA’s Mt. Lofty Ranges, the burrows are somewhat twisty and lack much silk-lining. The cephalothorax is chestnut brown, the legs are brownish-orange and the abdomen is mostly purple with some grey mottling. These spiders are heavily built and the body shape is very reminiscent of that of a funnel-web (family Atracidae). They are medium-sized wishbone spiders, reaching about 30mm in body length.
These spiders are sold as adult females and they may have a chance of being gravid.
