Description
Hormurus is a genus of scorpions mainly found in rock crevices or rotting logs in North-west WA, NT, and QLD. They have large, square claws (chela) and a flat, wide body that allows them to fit into tight crevices and use the claws to wedge themselves in place. The tail is extremely short and the venom of these species is extremely mild. This, along with the ease of care makes them good for beginners. It is reccomended to give them a bark hide and not rocks. Rocks are heavy and can shift and crush your scorpion.
This particular species is from south-east Queensland.
