This is a medium sized raspy cricket found on tall, steep coastal sand dunes in southern SA. Raspy crickets are aggressive predators of other insects and will also scavenge on fruit, grains etc. Raspy crickets can move very fast and adults of most species can fly, and combined with their ability to produce the strongest bite of any insect, should never be handled. Sold as a juvenile.
