Description

This medium sized trapdoor spider in the genus Stanwellia can be found around Kilmore in Victoria. They construct a 20-30cm deep burrow with an open, silk lined entrance. The spiders grow up to 25mm in body length and are a greyish-brown with slightly metallic silver hairs on the body. Due to their heavy silk lines burrows, this species does not require clay in the substrate to build a proper burrow.
