Description
Suitable for beginner and intermediate keepers.
This species is found in SA, NSW and VIC Mallee. Cercophonius scorpions are unusual in that they’re exclusively winter active, with them burying themselves about 30cm under the ground in summer and spring. It is usually the reverse for scorpions. We theorise it’s to reduce competition from the summer-active Buthidae.
Wood Scorpions are mildly venomous and can be quite feisty! We found them to be good eaters and very entertaining to watch.
Feeds on small invertebrates once a week. Adult length (including tail) from 30-35mm.
Usually prefers to live alone unless paired as male/female and close eye is kept on them for hostility.

Scorpions turned up beautiful packaged as always. And as I said to my partner, the description doesn’t lie, these mallee wood scorpions are truly awesome to watch when eating, such aggressive take downs!

Such a small, cool little guy. Colours and markings are beautiful, first scorpion of many 🤞, that I now care for. Arrived safe and sound, well packaged and very healthy.
