We love bugs!

Bug Frenzy is a family business based in South Australia.  All our invertebrates are either captive bred, or sustainably and ethically sourced. We love bugs and want to  encourage that love in others, to educate and ensure that these wonderful creatures will be here for generations to come.  We stock a range of insects – from Scorpions to Stick Insects, Pet Spiders and Roaches and everything inbetween!

 Why keep insects as pets?

“Why would anyone keep insects or even pet spiders?” you might ask. Personally I love the beautiful, strange shape of insects, their colours, diversity, unusual behaviour and interesting life cycle. And luckily, many other people all over the world discover the fun in keeping insects as pets!

Invertebrates such as praying mantids and stick insects are fascinating and quite practical pets. They come in beautiful shapes and colours. It is fascinating to see the animals hunt, grow, molt, lay eggs and see their methods of camouflage and defenses.

An additional practical advantage, is their modest requirements for housing, care and food. Compared to common pets like cats, dogs, rodents and birds they require less time and space. They are also harmless, allergy-free and their food is less expensive than the food of most commons pets. All this makes them an increasingly popular group of animals to keep as pets, for young and old people alike!

5 Star Review  A very convenient little kit, literally as easy as 1,2,3. The colony has already multiplied overnight as I can see many tiny little springtails jumping all about along with a considerable amount of adult ones 🙂

5 Star Review  The only issue with the pinhead crickets I ordered was that I should have gotten more. Packed and priced unbelievably well and best of all my spider is fat and happy.

5 Star Review  Beautiful little weaver arrived healthy and happy considering Auspost ignoring that arrows and "this way up" written everywhere.
Established a corner to corner Web overnight and has eaten twice in 3 days, very happy!
Can't wait for my next order to arrive 🙂
    Thanks Bug Frenzy

4 Star Review  Happy with the little guy. His second left leg is shrunken looking compared to the others, but otherwise he's jumping and eating.
I would have liked to know some info about the spider I was getting at purchase or on the tub he came in.

4 Star Review  It's a good simple cup to keep your small bugs in temporarily. I use it when I have to clean up the bigger terrariums. But keep in mind that screw lid may not be suitable for insects who like to stay on top. (Mantis, jumping spider, etc)

5 Star Review  Arrived very alert and very speedy. Smaller than I expected but at least I can watch him/her grow. The kit is basic with a enclosure, substrate and fake plant. No hide or even small piece of bark for them to hide under so will have to find something to put in there. Otherwise very happy with my new spider friend.

5 Star Review  I've got quite a few of these little enclosures at this point and I'm happy with every single one I've received. They're big enough to allow my tarantula slings to explore and the way the bottom is designed seems to encourage my burrowers to run their tunnels around the edge instead of disappearing into the middle. Visibility is great too, if you like to really see what your little spider is up to these are a good investment.

5 Star Review  Absolutely LOVE her! She came super healthy and full of energy. She began eating immediately and is always jumping about. Put her in a 30×21×21 enclosure to give her tonnes of room and she loves running around.

  • 5 Star Review  Very active little jumper! Walked right into the enclosure! A little thing I was a little concerned about though, is that my little friend had lost 2 legs when he had arrived! I’m not sure if he lost them due to shipping or me but I don’t think it was me since I haven’t handled him yet. He’s lost the 2 back legs so I’m not sure if he can jump. I hope he grows them back! Other than the issues just stated, 5 stars!

5 Star Review  Best jumper I’ve gotten so far! Came packaged nicely as always, the jumper also arrived in healthy condition upon opening package. At first I was worried about not seeing the jumper as it burrowed on the surface of the sand to make its silk bubble hide. I dropped a pinhead cricket in and left the spider to relax. The second day I noticed the jumper come out to appreciate some sun.. it has the same routine every morning and late afternoon of exploring and hunting around it’s enclosure. As well as being rather quite active it’s extremely beautiful and the patterns accompanied with the colours has me sitting there for minutes just watching. Always takes to food, no problems whatsoever. Just buy one when they’re stocked!!
