We love bugs!

Bug Frenzy is a family business based in South Australia.  All our invertebrates are either captive bred, or sustainably and ethically sourced. We love bugs and want to  encourage that love in others, to educate and ensure that these wonderful creatures will be here for generations to come.  We stock a range of insects – from Scorpions to Stick Insects, Pet Spiders and Roaches and everything inbetween!

 Why keep insects as pets?

“Why would anyone keep insects or even pet spiders?” you might ask. Personally I love the beautiful, strange shape of insects, their colours, diversity, unusual behaviour and interesting life cycle. And luckily, many other people all over the world discover the fun in keeping insects as pets!

Invertebrates such as praying mantids and stick insects are fascinating and quite practical pets. They come in beautiful shapes and colours. It is fascinating to see the animals hunt, grow, molt, lay eggs and see their methods of camouflage and defenses.

An additional practical advantage, is their modest requirements for housing, care and food. Compared to common pets like cats, dogs, rodents and birds they require less time and space. They are also harmless, allergy-free and their food is less expensive than the food of most commons pets. All this makes them an increasingly popular group of animals to keep as pets, for young and old people alike!

5 Star Review  Arrived safe as always 🙂
A beautiful species both male and female.
Female is about double the size of my mature male (tiny male)
Extremely easy to handle in a matter of seconds as are the male's.

  • 5 Star Review  Perfect enclosure! I thought it was going to be too small or a temporary home as the size is fairly small but it’s actually the perfect size! I have enough room to deck it out for her & it’s honestly all the room she needs! She’s made a silk home inside & seems to really like her little set up. I will be buying a bulk load of these size enclosures for all my others!

5 Star Review  I didn't expect this jumper to be smaller than the small peacock species, can't actually see his eyes they are so small!
Choosing food is difficult as the fruit flys are as big as him and he is scared of any crickets.
But he is calm and friendly, rather easy to handle.
    Thanks Bug Frenzy 🙂

4 Star Review  I ordered a spider and a starting kit. I received my Lion Peacock Jumping Spider and kit a week ago. The shipping and packaging process was immaculate. I did expect some extra information within the box to let me know when my spider last ate but one quick email to Bug Frenzy and I had an answer.

I did have to modify the terrarium slightly as my jumper really wanted to make a hammock on the seal. I hope that in the future Bug Frenzy will have a terrarium available that opens from the middle so that the spider and their hammocks are less disturbed. I really love the little knick-knacks they sell for the terrarium they currently have on offer. My spider really loves them too. Looking forward to ordering again from Bug Frenzy.
