Bug Frenzy is a family business based in South Australia. All our invertebrates are either captive bred, or sustainably and ethically sourced. We love bugs and want to encourage that love in others, to educate and ensure that these wonderful creatures will be here for generations to come. Why keep insects as pets?
“Why would anyone keep insects or even pet spiders?” you might ask. Personally I love the beautiful, strange shape of insects, their colours, diversity, unusual behaviour and interesting life cycle. And luckily, many other people all over the world discover the fun in keeping insects as pets!
Invertebrates such as praying mantids and stick insects are fascinating and quite practical pets. They come in beautiful shapes and colours. It is fascinating to see the animals hunt, grow, molt, lay eggs and see their methods of camouflage and defenses.
An additional practical advantage, is their modest requirements for housing, care and food. Compared to common pets like cats, dogs, rodents and birds they require less time and space. They are also harmless, allergy-free and their food is less expensive than the food of most commons pets. All this makes them an increasingly popular group of animals to keep as pets, for young and old people alike!

He is very lively and tame, enjoys exploring (although he loves sneaking into the gaps of the seals).
Such a big personality in such a tiny jumper!
I also ordered the Jumperanium 2.0 kit, which comes with everything that you need. I have 2 at the moment, and love how the accessories are also a little different from each other, so each enclosure has their own vibe.

November 26, 2022 - Awesome kit with everything you need to get started. The enclosure is a perfect size for my male maratus griseus and he is very happy in there so far. It is very secure and well laid out with plenty of room to add extra enrichment pieces. Highly recommend.

July 23, 2021 The tiny Striped peacock arrived safe but he's not happy in any enclosure other than a tiny 10cm x 7cm x 5cm clear soap container, one half substrate and the other half nothing, the only place he'll eats his flys, so strange!
Very fast and skittish species probably due to its size and fast metabolism, doesn't really like being handled but too small anyway, very slowly getting used to his new home.
To be expected from some species.

The bag the sand came in had ripped though, which had put sand all over everything in the package and was a bit messy with unpacking. February 20, 2022 I love this little guy - I have named him Eucalyptus (not sure if he’s a he or she!) A very inquisitive spider and always comes out of his web to say hello to me. It’s fascinating watching him catch crickets and he has a glorious big booty after he finishes his meal!
