Bug Frenzy is a family business based in South Australia. All our invertebrates are either captive bred, or sustainably and ethically sourced. We love bugs and want to encourage that love in others, to educate and ensure that these wonderful creatures will be here for generations to come. Why keep insects as pets?
“Why would anyone keep insects or even pet spiders?” you might ask. Personally I love the beautiful, strange shape of insects, their colours, diversity, unusual behaviour and interesting life cycle. And luckily, many other people all over the world discover the fun in keeping insects as pets!
Invertebrates such as praying mantids and stick insects are fascinating and quite practical pets. They come in beautiful shapes and colours. It is fascinating to see the animals hunt, grow, molt, lay eggs and see their methods of camouflage and defenses.
An additional practical advantage, is their modest requirements for housing, care and food. Compared to common pets like cats, dogs, rodents and birds they require less time and space. They are also harmless, allergy-free and their food is less expensive than the food of most commons pets. All this makes them an increasingly popular group of animals to keep as pets, for young and old people alike!

Gorgeous little peacock spider!
Everything was packed perfectly, and even a gel pack was included in the packaging to make sure he arrived safely.
He is quick, but also very tame, and is not afraid to jump on and spend some time with you.
Nothing is better than watching him wave his little legs around while exploring!

June 9, 2022 Just got my Idiosoma Trapdoor spider today. The package was very well packed even put a bag of cool gel to keep her chill while in transit. Thought she was dead as she buried herself upside down with all her legs curled up. So I dropped 2 lived crickets in the container, but she caught and and ate them all! She looks very healthy. Highly recommended and will order more species from Bug Frenzy again soon.

April 9, 2022 Thank you Bug Frenzy team for the diligent way of wrapping everything for delivery and most importantly the safety of little “Princess”. I highly recommend anyone wanting a jumping spider (or anything else) from this business, as they are great to deal with and, are helpful should you have any queries. I have found (as an adult) fascinating to watch my little “friend”, and these are an inexpensive pet to keep after the initial small outlay. The would help teach children responsibility, as well as an appreciation regarding the food chain/web of life, nature as well as life cycles. I wish Bug Frenzy had existed when my children were children!
Jumping spiders aren’t scary like other larger spiders can be to some, as they are fairly small; they have loads of character; and, besides tiny crickets, they can eat flies & mosquitoes - bonus!!

BUT, believe it or not, after 10-15mins of VERY gently bouncing it on paper towel (maybe 2cm high max) I saw its head move then a leg, OMG I saved it! : )
Took a night to get back to 100% but it's doing well now.
